What Could You Accomplish in Six (and a Half) Years?

Six Years Accomplish

Six (and a half) years ago, I wrote my first blog post.

Six (and a half) years later, Time Management Ninja continues to grow.

This past year was the best year of TMN yet.

I am stunned by the readership, fans, and sponsors that TMN has gained.

In 2015, TMN stats included over 1.3 million readers in 229 countries. Yes, million… amazing! (Even more amazing, as there are only officially 196 countries by the United Nation’s standards.)

If you told me 6 (and a half) years ago that 1.3 million people would read my time management posts each year, I wouldn’t have believed it. I still remember when I was happy if TMN reached double digits in a day. (Yes, meaning 10 readers.)

So, today I ask, “Where could you get in six and half years?”

Six (and a Half) Years is a Long Road

This post is late. Or is it?

Ever year I have written an annual “What Could You Accomplish in ‘X’ Years?” post. (See one, two, three, four, and five…)

This post is six and a half years. A half, because I usually post this in the fall anniversary of TMN. (I started in Aug 2009)

What I have learned…

  • Six Years is a Long Road – Too many people want overnight success. I continue to see those who try “quick schemes” and they burn out as fast as they rise. When people ask how I got to this point, I say, “I just didn’t stop…” Others did.
  • Success Isn’t a Destination – You don’t just “reach success” one day. You go on and continue your adventure. It’s a path that you follow, not a place you get to.
  • Try, Try and Try Again – Building success takes action… and more action. You don’t plan, plan, plan, plan and plan. You act, act, act, act, and then keep taking action. That is how success happens. There will be mistakes and lessons learned along the way. That’s how you get better.
  • Many Will Be Left Behind – I can’t count on both hands and feet how many of my fellow bloggers, websites, companies and apps have disappeared in the six and half years I have been blogging. As I said, “They stopped. They gave up. They were left behind.” This is life, business, and the world. Not everyone will continue down their path even when success is in sight.

“Don’t quit when others do… that’s how you reach success.”

The general message is, “Don’t give up. Don’t stop believing in your path. And no matter what… keep going.”

Where Does Year 7 Lead?

Looking ahead to year 7 of TMN I couldn’t be more excited.

Here are some of my big themes and goals for the coming year:

  • More Writing – I want to get back to more writing. That will mean more time management and technology posts on this website. Let me know what you want to see covered.
  • More Video – I have wanted to do more video on TMN for a long time. Look for more screencasts and how-to videos. As well, I have been experimenting with LIVE video on Periscope. (You can follow me on Periscope here.)
  • Time Management Courses – Some of you have taken my “31 Days” course. (If you haven’t… it is about to relaunched.) As well, I have two more productivity courses coming out this Spring including TMN’s BIG time management course. 🙂
  • Mastermind Group – I am working with a few friends in a Mastermind Group. I love the motivation and accountability. Each of us has tremendous goals for our respective websites in 2016, and it is going to be exciting to drive each other to success.

Where Will You Be in Six (and a Half) Years?

I couldn’t be happier with the success of TMN in the past six and a half years.

It’s going to be a great year! Look for my “year seven” post this Fall.

What about you? Where were you six and half years ago?

  1. Love this, Craig! It’s incredible to see how last year’s momentum is already leading you to down the road to greater success this year as well.

    1. Thanks, John! And thanks for the drive! It’s going to be a great year…

Ironically… I was cleaning up my RSS feeds this AM, and noticed one of my fellow bloggers who hadn’t posted in 309 days. Yet, another site that was abandoned.

Of course, I don’t know their reasons… but still say, “Never stop… pursuing your passion!”

  2. Wow…6 and half years is a loooong time….

I was in high school and studying hard for clearing with good marks.

At that time, it was no where in my list to worry about future. Now when I see back, I see many improvements in my thinking, human nature and survival knowledge.

Getting successful is my goal for next 6 years from now.

As Ramit Sethi says, my number one goal is to get an athletic body for life…

    P.S. Enjoyed the post…tweeted

  3. It’s been a pleasure knowing you & reading your work. ‘Never stop’ is probably the best advice anyone can get. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
