5 Reasons Your Holiday Shopping Should Be Done

The holidays are right around the corner.  You’ve finished your holiday shopping, right?

Oh, wait, are we not allowed to talk about this until after Thanksgiving?

No matter your take on the holidays, this time of year can be a stressful, busy, and time wasting occasion.

Today is about why your holiday shopping should be done by now.  (Yes, today!)

Get it Done Early

Why do so many people fall into the trap that is holiday shopping?

It seems that everyone waits until the last two weeks to buy gifts.

This procrastination ends up costing endless hours at the mall and other retail locations.

Instead, get out (or better yet get online!) and finish your shopping this weekend.

Here are “5 Reasons Your Holiday Shopping Should be Done…”

  1. Save Time Not Fighting Crowds – Ever been to the mall around December 15th?  If you have, hopefully that painful memory will be enough to spur you into action.  One of the best ways to get stuff done is to do it when others are not.
  2. Don’t Pay for Expedited Shipping – If you wait until the last minute, you may end up having to pay for expedited shipping on your gifts.  It is amazing that there are entire businesses built around people’s procrastination.  (UPS/FedEx, I am referring to you!)
  3. Save Money by Not Paying Holiday Prices – Ever notice how the price on that must have gift seems to go up during the holiday season?  Ever had to go to eBay to get that unobtainable gift?  It was easy to get in October.  And cheaper, too.
  4. You’ll Buy Less – By shopping early, you will avoid the crass commercialism that is the holiday season.  Avoid all the holiday add-ons and temptations that retailers will put in front of you.
  5. Get More Done While Others are Running Around – Best yet, while others are running around like mad trying to finish their holiday shopping, you can relax and work on something more productive.  Work on that important project or start that hobby while others are hustling and bustling about.

Get Some Time, Give Some Time

With just a little provocativeness, you will end up saving yourself time and money this holiday season.

I highly recommend doing your shopping online.  You won’t travel all over town, you’ll get better prices, and in many cases you won’t pay sales tax.

Better yet, instead of a physical gift, consider doing something with someone you care about.

After all, time is the best gift of all.

Is your holiday shopping done?  When will you finish it?
