Start Your Day at the Top and It’s All Downhill From There

Downhill All Day

How do you start your day?

Facebook? News? Or even email?

You’re probably checking these before your feet even hit the floor in the morning. When you finally get going, you struggle to get your day started and your work on track.

How much better off would you be if you started with the most important thing you needed to accomplish today?

Start with Your Most Important Task

Instead of beginning your day with the inconsequential, start with your highest priority.

Do your most important task first thing in the day. That way you know you have your top priority done before anything else.

No matter what life throws at you, your most important work is already behind you.

“If you start with your most important task, the rest of your day will be downhill from there.” (Tweet this Quote)

Of course, your most important task is probably the one you don’t want to do.

  • Go the gym
  • Write the next chapter of your book
  • Take the next step to start your business
  • Study for your degree
  • Plan your day

Brian Tracy famously said, “Eat that frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse can happen in your day.” (Actually, the quote is from Mark Twain, Mr. Tracy applied it to time management.)

However, many people confuse their “frog” with their most distasteful task. (Sometimes it is…) But, for clarity… you must do your most important task first.

If you are trying to get in shape… working out comes first.
If you are trying to write a book… you better write before the world wakes up.
If you are trying to get your degree… do your studying before going to your day job.

Do the Important First and It’s All Easier From There

Your most important tasks are the ones that you probably want to put off or skip until later.

Yet, putting your most important work first thing in your day is the best way to ensure success and that you will have time for them.

Always do your most important task when you get up in the morning, and the rest of your day will be downhill from there.

  1. That list is so familiar because I am “working” on ALL those things; but first thing each weekday is getting my 4 boys ready for school and their day! This is why I read and appreciate your articles. I need all the advice I can get. THANK YOU!

  2. As your favorite lake starts to ice up using the coming of slide, it’s time for you to winterize your jet ski to make certain that it will likely be ready to go for that very first summer time jaunt following yr. To be certain that you simply will probably be driving the waves instead of receiving the Jet Ski mechanically in control, get the following uncomplicated ways to winterize your aquatic toys. 3. Yep, guilty! I always check my emails first thing (I’m usually still in bed at this point) but I really want to start doing some exercise before I leave for work. I’m sure it would help me focus a lot more!
