7 Things Stopping You From Pursuing Your Impossible Dreams

Impossible Dreams

You have dreams inside you.

BIG things that you want to accomplish.

Yet, you have never started many of them. Your dreams remain thoughts in your head.

You have convinced yourself that they are impossible. Or you don’t know where to start. Or you don’t have time.

What’s stopping you from pursuing your dreams?

In Pursuit of Big Dreams

I recently did a survey of TMN readers about their BIG goals.

It was interesting to see how many people have BIG goals and dreams. (Answer: Pretty much everyone…)

Just as interesting was that a large majority said that they had not started or had obstacles preventing them from moving forward.

Their dreams seemed distant. Impossible even.

Have you convinced yourself that your dreams are not possible in your life?

If they were easy, they wouldn’t be dreams. If they were simple, everyone would be doing them.

What is your impossible dream?

  • Be an author
  • Start your own business
  • Change your physical fitness
  • Switch careers fields
  • Be financially independent
  • Be recognized as an authority in your field

All of these are truly possible… if you are willing to do the work.

What’s Stopping You?

If you want to pursue your BIG dreams you have to remove the obstacles in front of you.

Some of these barriers may be real, tangible things. Others may be in your head or imagined.

What’s stopping you?

Here are 7 Things Preventing You From Pursuing Your Dreams:

  1. Not Making Your Dream a Top Priority – Dreams don’t happen by accident. If your BIG goal is not your #1 priority, you won’t give it the attention is requires. Make sure your dream is always front-and-center.
  2. Not Believing You Can – If you don’t believe that you can… then you probably can’t. If you don’t believe in your dream and your ability to pursue it, then you already have defeated yourself. You must have unwavering faith in your dream regardless of its ultimate success.
  3. Not Willing to Pay the Price – Every dream worth pursuing has a cost. It may be time, discipline, practice, and yes, even money sometimes. Are you willing to pay the price for yours?
  4. Not Pursuing It Every Single Day – Dreams don’t happen in one big effort. The truth is that they are accomplished in many small steps that add up to success. To reach your dream you have to take a step forward every single day.
  5. Not Starting Your DreamYou can’t finish if you don’t start. It’s that simple. You will never reach your goal if you never attempt it. You must begin.
  6. Listening to Others – Are you limiting your dreams based on the opinions of others? The ones who say “That’s not possible,” are the same ones that will never try. Don’t listen to them.
  7. Your Dreams are too Rigid – Dreams that are too rigid are often broken by daily life. Your goals need to be adaptable to your life and happenings. You might even be surprised that your original dream wasn’t big enough when you learn what’s possible.

What’s Stopping You?

You have a BIG dream. I guarantee that you do. (Even if you are holding it inside…)

Ask yourself, “What is stopping me from pursuing it?”

Dreams are worth pursuing with all of your being.

Make sure you pursue yours… today and every day.

  1. Great post and exactly what I needed at this time. I have several “impossible” dreams that are on your list and I know that I have to put in the work and believe that I can do it.

  2. This really resonated with me. I have been concentrating on ways to incorporate ways to work my dreams into my daily life. I want to work on them every day because it is important. I’ve definitely taken up the approach of “I have 5 minutes to work on what I want to achieve.” Some days that’s all I can muster, others I will but my nose to the grindstone all day. However, telling myself to commit to 5 minutes is so much easier than think about the BIG final picture (which so rarely happens the way you think anyway).

  3. How long can one put in efforts to pursue their dreams.(You might be saying till one achieves their dreams). But pursuing them for a long enough time by devoting all your resources without any result will turn your dreams into nightmares if we cant reach them. Won’t it?
Moreover, this added new fear keeps us far from reaching the shore of our dreams. Are dreams limited to the ones that we can actually pursue or do they help us in pushing our boundaries farther?

  4. Thank you! I have been making most of these mistakes, but I have slowly eliminated them by taking small actions each day. I am not there yet, but walking the path.:-)

  5. My dream IS impossible to achieve and I have absolutely no idea what to do with number 7. I don’t want to adjust it, I want to fulfil it. My dream is to be a professional soccer player in a major league in Europe. Now, I’m 27, out of shape and I don’t have the skill it takes to make a magical appearance in professional soccer. There is nothing else that can replace this and it will always be a frustration in my life. I can’t do anything about it and I never will and that makes me completely lost in life.

  6. My dream is to become an actress, i am 13 years old and not the richest. I don’t think it is possible for me to become and actress.

  7. Hey guys . I got a big problems . My dream is too big and Im scared that it would be impossible to achieve . The problem is I can’t forget it in order to advance to something else cuz it’s stuck in my mind . I feel like can’t do something else . I need your help guys thank you
