When does good beat best?
It happens.
When best fails to get it done.
When best doesn’t finish.
When best doesn’t ship.
Sometimes good does beat the best.
Waiting on the Best
Have you ever missed an opportunity because you were waiting for the perfect moment to act?
Did you ever lose an idea because you were holding out for the best time to implement it?
The problem with “the best answer” is that it often involves waiting.
This pursuit of perfection can turn into an endless quest.
And then, opportunities slip by. Doors close. And chances are missed due to inaction.
Good is Good
Good is about doing.
Good is about decisive action. Not waiting.
I often hear, “I could have done that.”
Yet, you didn’t. Why not?
Apparently, you couldn’t.
“A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan next week.”
– General George S. Patton
Good finishes the task.
Good ships the product.
Good shows up at the game.
Good Gets It Done
Don’t hold back your good efforts while you wait for the perfect solution.
I am not saying you shouldn’t give it your all. You always should.
But, rather, don’t let success and accomplishment slip by because you failed to act.
Sometimes the good does beat the best.
Actually, it happens more often that you think.
What do you need to act on? Do you wait too long on the perfect solution?
