10 Tips to Stop Worrying and Get More Done

10 Ways to Beat Worry

In our hyper-active world, it seems that there is always something to worry about.

If it’s not ourselves, our loved ones, or friends, then we have gas prices, the government, or other social issues of the day.

What keeps your mind spinning?

Are you so busy worrying that you are not getting your work done?

Too Much Worry

We all spend too much time worrying.

Worrying about what might happen. Or what could come to be.

Yet, 99.9% of the time, none of it ever happens.

So, why do we waste so much time thinking about it?

“We spend too much time worrying about what will never be, instead of doing the things that could be.” (Tweet this Quote)

Worrying doesn’t get anything done. It doesn’t help in any regard, and only serves to stress you out.

Instead, redirect that worried energy to being productive.

Less Worry, More Doing

Worrying doesn’t accomplish anything.

The irony is that the medical and physical impacts of worry are real. Beyond disrupting your ability to get your work done, they can have real consequences for your health and well-being.

Instead of spending your time worrying, use it to get more done.

Here are 10 Practical Tips to Help You Worry Less and Get More Done:

  1. Write It Down – Often, we don’t even know exactly what we are worrying about. A good technique is to write down your worry. What is the issue? What are you concerned will happen? Writing in your journal can be a great way to clarify your thoughts. Get those thoughts out of your head so that you can get to bed.
  2. Prepare Yourself for the Result – If there is an outcome that you are concerned about, then prepare for it. Be ready for the event. If you have already prepared and accepted the possible outcomes, then you can relax until it occurs.
  3. Take Action – Keeping busy is a great way to avoid worry. Avoiding idle time keeps your brain from endlessly pondering things that may never come to be.
  4. Put It in Perspective – Consider the true priority of the issue you are worrying about. There are very few true emergencies in life. Should you really lose sleep over small and inconsequential issues? What is the worst that can happen?
  5. Stay Ahead of Worry – Much worry is self-inflicted. Avoid it by staying one step ahead of it. Worried about getting ready for that trip? Pack the night before. Concerned about having enough time to finish that project? Finish it ahead of the deadline.
  6. Be Early – Much of our worry is created by being late and constantly rushing from place to place. Avoid the worry by being early, whether it is to an appointment or simply getting to work. Adding extra time to your schedule can eliminate much of the stress of the daily rush.
  7. Seek an Outside Opinion – Sometimes what you need is advice from someone outside the situation. Seek a friend or loved one to give you a different vantage point on the issue can make all the difference.
  8. Be Yourself – Much of our worry comes from concern about what other people might think of us. Unless you are breaking the law, then the only judge you need to worry about it you. Learn to be yourself, because ultimately it doesn’t matter what he thinks or she thinks, only what you think.
  9. Get Some Help – When you reach the point that you cannot pull yourself out of worry, it’s time to call in the cavalry. Call upon a friend to help you right the situation you are concerned about. Maybe you need an extra helping hand or even just someone to listen.
  10. Stay in the Now – You can’t change yesterday, and you can’t predict the future. Live in the present. And take things as they come.

Worry Less, Get More Done

Don’t let worry dominate your daily activities.

There is no value wallowing in “What might happen…”

Instead, live in the present. Put worry in it’s place, so that you can concentrate on what you need to do.

  1. Time tracking software helps us to get more done in less time. With that application, we can track the time spent on various projects and also allows us to bill our clients accurately. For time management, Personally I use Replicon’s ( http://www.replicon.com/olp/online-time-recording-software.aspx ) software. This cloud-based application is integrated with quickbooks.

We don’t have to use a separate software to make our reports as we can make any number of time reports with the required information. I’ve used it at work and found it greatly helpful in making purchase orders.

  2. I spend lot of time worrying about my kids. I work all the time not enough money to do and enjoy them as they grow to be young lady. I wish I can make more money for my family. This is making me give up.

  3. Tools like proofhub.com can help you a lot in increasing productivity. This tool is very useful for tracking time and managing team as well as projects. Try this tool and feel the change it brings.
