Don’t Let Life Choose Your Path

Do you know where you are going?

Better yet, do you know where you want to be going?

Are you on the path? Or are you lost?

Not sure which direction you are heading.

Or even when you will get there.

Have You Chosen Your Path?

We all have to choose our own path in life.

Some choose the easy one. Some choose the hard one.

Some go for greatness and pursue their dreams.

Sadly, others don’t choose at all. And may not even know where they are headed.

“If you don’t choose your path, life will choose it for you.”

Do you know where you are going?

If not, how will you know when you’ll get there?

What Is Your Destination?

People without goals are running races without finish lines.

They are floating through life, like driftwood going down a river.

Choose your path and be determined to follow it:

  • Have Goals – Those who achieve their dreams are the ones that have clear goals. Write them down. Make them clear. Tell others about them. Set deadlines for reaching them.
  • Make Your Own Choice – Make your path a conscious choice. Life is full of wonderful surprises and serendipity, but don’t let life dictate your path. Choose your destination and chart your own course. Sometimes you have to blaze a path that hasn’t been previously travelled.
  • Pay the Price – Make sure you know what you are willing to pay for your dream. Every path has a price. Whether it is years of practice or a certain school degree. Make sure you are willing to pay for your path in time, effort, and sacrifice.
  • Don’t Give Up – No one is successful immediately or on their first try. Those who end up winning are usually those who persist longer than others. They continue long after everyone else has quit. Winners do what the others are not willing to do.

Choose Your Way

There is nothing worse than not having a path.

A purpose. A goal.

Choose your path wisely.

Be determined.

And be willing to pay the toll for the path you choose.

Are you on the path of your choosing?

  1. Craig,

It is also important to understand, that many times you have to make unexpected hops in order to reach your goals and your journey is not going to be a straight line from A to B to C.

For example, I have a dream I want to pursue. However, I know that right now since my son was born, I have to postpone that dream a bit. On the other hand I also happen know, that the dream is coming true at some point, but not as quickly as I wanted.

    Cheers,

    Timo

    1. @timokiander Timo, agreed. The journey is rarely a straight line. Life is full of turns and twists. 🙂

  4. Reading this reminded me of a quote by Jim Rohn: “Either you run your day, or your day runs you” – same principle, different scale. If there’s anything I would add, it would be that big goals are reached through small increments.

@timokiander I can very much relate to the necessity of having to postpone a dream – always glad to see someone sharing my perspective of things not being either/or but rather that of prioritizing.

    1. @Sophia.C. I hear you. 🙂

It can be tough to stick with it. However, that is the true secret. You have to stay the course even when others have given up.

  6. @skooloflife I read the blogpost on dont let life choose your path. Was expecting more from it. Examples. Facts. Or simply more details.
