Practice Makes Productive

We all have things that we want to be better at.

However, just wanting to be better at something doesn’t make it so.

The question is, “What are you doing about it?”

Or better yet, “How often are you doing it?”

Practice Makes Us Better

When doing something for the first time, we all know that is usually takes much longer than expected.

However, when you go back to do it again, you have increased knowledge, understanding, and skill. The more you do something, the better you get.

Any skill takes practice, whether it is a sport, a technical skill, or even art.

“Practice makes us more productive.

The more we do something, the better we become at performing it.

As a skill example, when I first started blogging, it took me a long time to construct a post. Going from idea to writing to graphics to publishing used to take me hours. With practice, I now have the ability to put together an article in about half of the time as when I first began.

From a productivity standpoint, I started getting up earlier so that I could get more done. At first, it was tough. Pulling myself out of bed. Waking up and getting to work. It was not a pretty picture. Now, my body revolts if I don’t get up early. In fact, I usually don’t need to set an alarm clock.

What do you want to be better at?

Repeat to Better

Practice is the key to getting better at things.

Time management and productivity habits are definitely areas where practice leads to better skills. The secret is not a large complex system, but rather basic skills that you practice and make a part of your normal routine.

The more you practice good time management, the more it becomes habit. Eventually, it is second nature and performed with little or no effort.

What do you need to practice?

Practice Makes Productive

If you want to get better at something, you have to practice it.

There are no shortcuts. No magic formulas.

So, identify what you need to be more productive at and practice it daily.

The more you do it, the more proficient you will become.

Practice makes perfect, and it also makes us more productive.

What do you need to practice in order to be more productive?

  1. Craig,

    You are right.

If you want to be the go-to person, authority or just a superstar in anything, you need to practice.

What I love about practicing is especially those personal breakthrough moments, when I learn something new. Even if practicing may feel tedious at times, those moments are worth gold and at that point all my frustrations are gone.

One definition of success that I learned earlier this year was, that every time you move forward or you do something better, you have already reached success. I think that is important thing to remember. This also relates to practicing. When you have your personal breakthrough moments you have already had success.

  6. Right on Craig! That is the way our brain learns – by doing it! You need to do what you want to get good at, over and over again. It is definitely frustrating sometimes when you get started though! 😉
