Where Do You Want to Spend Your Time?

A friend recently told me that he wished he could spend more time with his family.

This individual was traveling 3 out of 4 weeks a month for their job.

And yet when he was in town, he was working 60+ hours in the office.

I told my friend that if he wanted to spend more time with his family, then he needed to make a choice.

“You have to choose where you are spending your time.”

Where Are You Spending Your Time?

You say you don’t have time. But, it’s going somewhere.

Where are you spending it?

At work? Watching TV? Complaining? Goofing off?

You have the time.

It’s really a question of what you choose to do with it.

If you know where you want to spend your time, then do it.

It may require some life changes,

It may even require some sacrifices,

but where you spend your time is ultimately up to you.

Only You Can Make That Choice

So, don’t say you don’t have time to spend with your family.

Don’t say you don’t have time to work out.

Instead, look at where you need make a choice to spend more time… (and perhaps, need to…)

Where do you want to spend your time?

  • With Your Family
  • Doing a Hobby
  • Writing That Book
  • Outdoors
  • Working Out
  • Building a Relationship
  • Taking Care of Those You Care About
  • Learning a New Skill

Make Your Time a Choice

If you are not satisfied about where you are spending your time, then do something about it.

Choose how and where you spend your time.

Because it’s up to you, each and every day.

Question: Where do you want to spend more of your time?

  1. Great article Craig. We have to control our time otherwise our time will control us. How many times have you heard someone say “Jeez, where did the time go!?” The fact is we make time (or should) for those things that are important to us and if they are not we make excuses.

  2. Loved it Craig! This has been a source of frustration for me in my life. As I know the truth but applying it can be difficult. In fact, just this evening I was telling my wife that this year has flown by and where has the time gone. It’s gone exactly where I’ve “wanted” to spend my time.
