[...] Hush. I have noticed over the years that technology once hailed as fast and effective eventually becomes inferior or even obsolete. For example, a recent article by the Time Management Ninja suggests that “Email has become the new snail mail.” The Ninja explained that Email used to be fast — “very fast, in fact” – but now it is slow. (You can read why, here).
These are great observations. I am going to review them and think about my own organizational habits -- just as soon as I catch up on my e-mail.

Sometimes slower is better. Social media and my RSS Reader are like embarking on a great adventure. It can be a wild fantastic ride. You just never know who you'll meet and where it will lead. Email is the place I go to dig into a project. I just started working with www.Harmon.ie for Outlook which is a huge time saver when it comes to collaborating on documents right from my email. My email has become my hub (emails, calendars, to do, documents) all in one place and then when I'm ready I move on to the new high speed adventures.

I believe email still has a lot to offer in business communications. Email too is evolving and you can see that New Generation Email Clients like www.taroby.com are great to handle today's fast paced communications.

[...] 5 Reasons Email is Now Snail Mail – Email in the past seemed to be super fast right? Not anymore.
I'm actually obsessed with keeping my inbox at zero. lol I prefer email over other forms of communication. I ask my clients to email me if possible rather and IM or call. I can get more accomplished during the day this way than if everyone called me for every little thing. Most people misconstrue what is a really emergency and what is not.

Google Wave seems like a good way to stop the back and forth of email. Especially, on project collaboration with multiple people.

The thing that kept me from continuing to use Google Wave was its very limited capabilities to get anything IN or OUT of Wave. Very limited import and export capability.

I guess what goes on in Wave...stays in Wave. :)

I agree with Nina that it is less invasive and is probably my favorite form of communication. It is true that it is slower, but I make it that way for me. I only "check" my email two to three times a day because I am busy getting things done :)

I love e-mails more than IMs or Skype calls. I just hate it when somebody calls me through Skype without asking first. They can message me saying that they'll call me. My boss usually does that - and she is my boss!
